30DC Cross Training

OK, Day 4 of the Thirty Day Challenge is well done and over. I’ve done my “unforgettable five” as soon as I complete this post. We tarried long after the swimming lesson and I didn’t get to see if my niche competition got critiqued.
I have to say that I’m a bit worried about that. After watching other people getting analyzed I realized that maybe I’m hosed because of page rank. Here have a look for yourself…
My biggest concern is that all the top six are page ranked at 3, 4, or 5. But it doesn’t look like there’s been much optimization until you get to number 6.
I would sure appreciate any seasoned appraisal. You can catch me here, or on FriendFeed, Twitter, or just about anything else as MyklK (On the 30DC I’m just Mykl).
I still need to get over to the 30DC Cross Training room for some accountability. But I’m running out of steam for tonight. I’ll just Tweet about this post and call it a night.

Doing something practical for exercise
I’m trying to consistently exercise through the month of August to get a good habit started. Since I’m taking swimming lessons with my kids – I’m counting a few extra laps as my exercise for those days. And I got tired of messing with a lawn mower that I’m not capable of fixing or maintaining, so I bought an old timey drum blade push mower. No gas, just muscle power. Is that a work out or what!
How’s the Thirty Day Challenge coming along?
I have been keeping up so far with the 30DC. I’ve tried a few niches. I’ll be interested in submitting mine for critique. I just have to keep my eyes peeled for the instructions. There is a new analysis tool for this year called the Market Samurai. It’s a little complicated, and it’s slow gathering results. Of course it’s doing a lot of queries under the covers, so it might be understandable that it’s going to take a little time to process.
I’m hopeful that this year will be more productive for me than last year. I’d sure like to quiet the nay sayers… Both internal and external.
In other news
I am unemployed until at least Wednesday and maybe until next week. I have to wait and see if the company I made a proposal to actually decides to take up the offer. They said they would, but I don’t count on anything until I have a signed contract.
Well, this completes my ‘unforgettable five’ activities for today! Yahoo! 3 days in a row. See you again tomorrow.

Wow, I’m working late trying to master the Samurai and day 2 just slipped by. It’s the third by my clock. So does this still count for the 2nd? I’m counting it because I’m tired and I’ll write more tomorrow.
MSamurai has me overwhelmed – still not striking gold, but I’m still prospecting. g’night.

So it has begun. The challenge is under way.
And Ed leads off with one of his big ideas, the symphony of 4 parts
- Research
- Traffic
- Conversion
- Product
This is the big picture view of a business, whether online or not. Starting at the very beginning is market research. Why have a company that produces something that nobody is looking for. Why not find a market – meaning a group of people who all have something in common; be it a need, or an interest, or perspective on something. If you identify that group, you have a market you can offer something to.
This group/market can be rather small – as long as they are well defined and maybe at least a little passionate about their issue.
Today we are supposed to come up with a list of 5-10 of these in the form of simple ideas. That is the goal for today.
Cross Training
For today I have done my exercise (and obviously my writing). I did my 30DC videos this morning, and I will make my list out right after this post (I promise). Later tonight I will cover my spiritual bases. If I don’t I’ll surely report on it tomorrow.
Now if you have read this far, and you plan to follow my friend feed path through these 30 days with cross training, maybe you would like to open the spreadsheet and add your name and your cross training activity and we’ll hold one another accountable throughout the whole month. Take a chance and actually act – lets see what a difference it makes.
I want to encourage you to step out and take action, even just a little change in your normal routine can bring about corollary changes like ripples in the waters. Take the plunge and just try!
